Most Technosoft drives have 3 special inputs: Limit Switch Positive (LSP), Limit Switch Negative (LSN) and ENABLE *.
- LSP / LSN inputs prevent movements outside of the working area that is defined by the limit switches. The motor will be stopped if it’s moving positive and the LSP input becomes active or when it’s moving negative and the LSN input becomes active.
- ENABLE input can be used to implement a basic emergency stop functionality. When the ENABLE input status is “disabled”, the power stage of the drive is disabled.
Remarks:
1) The active level for Enable, LSP and LSN inputs can be set from the “Drive Setup” dialog in EasyMotion Studio / EasySetUp.
2) Each input can trigger a TML interrupt.
3) The special inputs can be configured to operate as general purpose inputs (see the related articles). In this case, their default functionality will no longer be available.
By default the behaviour of the limit switch inputs is the following:
LSP: – if the drive is commanded to move positive and LSP is triggered, the drive will enter into the quickstop state (stop the motion using the quick stop deceleration parameter)
LSN: – if the drive is commanded to move negative and LSN is triggered, the drive will enter into the quickstop state (stop the motion using the quick stop deceleration parameter).
Remarks:
1) The quickstop deceleration can be set using the CDEC parameter for drives in a TMLCAN network or by accessing object 6085h for drives in a CANopen or EtherCAT network (see the attached manuals for more details).
2) If the quick stop deceleration is too low, the motor may not stop before hitting the mechanical limit.
3) While a limit switch is active, the drive will not accept a new motion command in the direction of the active limit switch. If both limit switch inputs are active, the drive will not accept motion commands in any direction.
* The ENABLE input is present only on the drives that don’t have STO (safe torque off). On the drives with STO there is no separate ENABLE input as its functionality is in fact included in the STO functionality.
