Technosoft drives can handle different types of external reference signals: analog, pulse & direction or quadrature encoder.
The following steps describe how to configure a Technosoft drive to read the Pulse & Direction inputs as the external source for the position reference:
- Create a new project/setup based on your drive, motor and feedback type. If you only commission the drive with EasySetUp, then go to step 3.
- Select Setup from the project tree and press the View/Modify button.
- Follow the Guideline Assistant instructions to complete the motor and drive setup
- In the Drive Setup dialog, press the Setup button to open the External Reference Setup dialog
- Select the type of reference as Digital, then choose the source as Pulse & Direction
- Set the gear ratio between the master (pulse & direction signals) and the slave (drive/motor). A negative value for the slave will cause it to move in the opposite direction.
- In order to avoid motor mechanical shocks when the slave is connected “on the fly”, with the master moving, you can “Limit maximum acceleration”.
- Close the External Reference Setup dialog. If you use EasyMotion Studio to program the drive, then go to step 10.
- Check the Automatically activated after Power On option
- Press OK to close the Drive Setup dialog
- Press the Download to Drive/Motor button to download the setup data to the drive’s non volatile memory. If you use EasyMotion Studio to program the drive, then go to step 13
- Reset the drive to activate the setup. At this point, the drive will read the Pulse & Direction inputs as an external reference when it is powered on.
- Select Motion from the project tree.
- Press the Motion External button to open the programming dialog for external motion modes
- Choose Digital and press OK to generate the TML code.
- Download and execute the TML program.
The External Reference motion can be inserted from the motion branch. For details, please see the picture below:
